TechCrunch is the first news organization to run a full-page ad in a local newspaper that calls for the resignation of Stratford Mayor Chris Ralles, who is facing calls for his ouster.
The ad reads, “Stratford mayor Chris Ralls resigns.
Please help us elect a new mayor.”
The ad was produced by a campaign committee called “We Demand Chris RALLES SUDDENLY REMOVING HIS COMMISSIONER AND RETAKING HIS ELECTION.”
It has been widely criticized for its tone and content.
A petition has been launched to remove Rallies from office, with over 500 signatures.
“We need a change, we need to take a stand, we have a responsibility to our children and grandchildren, and our future generations,” said the petition’s author, Chris Fico, in an interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
“It’s not a position that’s a choice or a choice you make, it’s not an option you’re going to stick your head in the sand.”
Rallys resignation came after the city released its annual financial report on Thursday, showing the city lost $5.5 million, an increase of $1.4 million in operating revenue and a $2.6 million reduction in its debt.
The Mayor has no choice but to resign.”
